Plumbers Are ALWAYS Needed

Pipes, toilets, sewage lines, garbage disposals, bathtub drains - no matter what the economy, we use them all the time and they're always going to need professionals who can fix and install them.

Which is why - even during the deep recession - the job opportunities for those who learned how to become a plumber increased by 3.3 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. What's more, the BLS predicts that "job opportunities should be very good" for the foreseeable future.

In fact, the BLS continues, "these workers [including plumbers, pipelayers, pipefitters, and steamfitters] constitute one of the largest and highest paid construction occupations."

The number of plumbers, etc. needed by 2018 will have increased by 16 percent (from 2008), according to the BLS.

Good Wages for Those Who Take Courses on Plumbing

Start plumbing training and you, too, may be able to enjoy pay that is "among the highest in construction occupations," according to the BLS.

"Media hourly wages of wage and salary plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters," the BLS continued, "were $21.94 in May 2008. The middle 50 percent earned between $16.63 and $29.66. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $13.22, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $37.93."
